All of Ascension MyHealth Urgent Care locations are conducting testing for COVID-19.

COVID TESTING ON SYMPTOMATIC PATIENTS

To comply with MIOSHA guidelines and for the safety of our patients and staff all patients presenting with symptoms related to the Corona virus will be required to undergo a rapid COVID test prior to being seen.

COVID Testing Q&A

Q: Do you need any appointment for COVID testing at any of the Ascension MyHealth locations?

A: No appointment is needed for testing, you will be tested on "first come first served basis"

__________________________________________________________________________________________________

Q: Will my insurance cover COVID testing?

A: Yes, most insurances cover testing, but recently insurance companies have changed their criteria for covering COVID testing, Please contact your insurance company if you have questions

regarding your coverage.
__________________________________________________________________________________________________

Q: What if I do not have insurance?

A: Uninsured patients are currently covered under the provider relief act. We will discuss this

at the time of your visit.

__________________________________________________________________________________________________

Q: What type of COVID testing do you offer?

A: We offer COVID-19 Rapid PCR and Antigen tests and send out PCR tests. We also offer send

out Antibody testing.

__________________________________________________________________________________________________

Q: How long does it take for results?

A:Rapid PCR and Antigen available in 2 hours. A send out PCR takes approximately 24 hours depending on the lab.

Q: If I need a work clearance how do I get one?

A: Ascension MyHealth Urgent Care follows CDC guidelines on clearing patients to return work. Current CDC recommendation:

-After you receive two negative test results in a row, at least 24 hours apart.

-*10 days have passed since the date you had your positive test for those who had no symptoms.

-At least 10 days since your symptoms first appeared and at least 24 hours with no fever and without fever-reducing medication and other symptoms of COVID-19 are improving.

-If you have a weakened immune system due to a health condition or medication, you might need to stay home and isolate longer than 10 days.

-If you had severe illness from COVID-19 (you were admitted to a hospital and needed oxygen), your healthcare provider may recommend that you stay in isolation for longer than 10 days.

( CDC Guidelines ) *(check CDC for updated 5 days shorter duration)
__________________________________________________________________________________________________

Q: How do I obtain a copy of my results?

A:You can request a copy of your results via email or pick up a copy at the office.

__________________________________________________________________________________________________

Q: Will the antibody test tell me if I have ever had COVID-19?

A: Yes, the antibody test we use can detect IgG antibodies which is the long term antibodies your body builds, although we can't determine when you had an infection or how long the antibodies last, we can use the result of having a positive IgG antibody as an indication that you have had the virus before.
__________________________________________________________________________________________________

Q: Can I be tested if I do not have symptoms?

A: Yes. However, your insurance may not cover the testing resulting in an out-of-pocket fee. Per

the CDC the following people should be tested:

-People who have symptoms of COVID-19.

--People who have had close contact with someone with confirmed Covid. Close contact is

considered within 6 feet of an infected person for at least 15 minutes)

-People who have been asked or referred to get testing by their healthcare provider.

__________________________________________________________________________________________________

Q: How accurate are the rapid test?

A: Our rapid test has a high sensitivity level to detect the virus and a positive result is very

accurate. There is always a chance of a false negative result which is why we send a confirmation PCR test to a reference lab with results that return in 24-48 hours.
__________________________________________________________________________________________________

Q: How can I learn more about that test that you use?

A: At the time of your visit, ask any of our MyHealth staff for a fact sheet on the test that you are getting.
